Sitting on the terrace looking down on the mist lying in the valleys between us a Malaga, it is easy to imagine what it was like 400 years ago, the Moors looking out from their Fortress, which stands directly above and behind us; most days would give them a clear view all the way to the beach of Malaga and any oncoming soldiers, a wet season would herald many mists which would have provided good cover for the invading Christian armies, and probably was the ultimate downfall of Casarabonela, the last Moor stronghold to fall to the Christians. How fortunate I am to sit here, listening to the sounds of bird song, clanking bells of the sheep grazing in the olive groves across from the market road, gazing at views that are usually pictures in fantasy novels of dragons and knights, the flowers are blooming and the mountain is as lush as I ever seen it since moving out nearly 51/2 years ago........
think on those Moors who were driven from their homes, killed or forced to take the Christian faith, 400 hundred years is but a blink in the history of this planet.........
