June Solstice

Hope everyone has survived the full moon - I know at 7.30, peak time here, I suddenly became very introspective, and it stayed with me for a good 24 hours. As we had to go water the garden at La Era yesterday we decided to go up a little earlier and just chill out round the pool and read - the peace up there is palpable - as the sun doesn't really disappear behind the mountain till after 8 - whereas in the village it is about 7 - La Era is that much higher - we didn't get home til half 9 - I finished off Marta's birthday cake which I had made in the morning, it just needed the cream cheese mixed with orange zest juice plastered in it and over it then I had a cup of tila tea and slept right through til quarter past 8 this morning - unheard for me as I am usually awake and up around 6.30/7ish most days, so feeling full of energy/life once again.

Wonderful emails awaiting me this morning from Val and Sarah. You asked about the ginkgo Val, funnily enough the other day when D was researching something for Pete he spied a link to the definitive "pill" for high BP when he checked it out the ingredients were garlic salt, ginkgo and hawthorn in that order, of course D takes all these things so why bother with a pill and his BP is now stable and lower than at any time he was on the prescribed drugs - so we can only go by personal experience and if it works stick with it.

On the same note I find it sad that certain "alternative" practitioners are bringing all "alternative/complimentry" practices under threat - there seems to be a lot of broo hah going on the UK at the moment mostly due to the DORE "treatments" I guess that the claims of "essiac" would be blasted also mmmmm well again I can only go by my own personal experience and since I have 11 years of life I was told weren't gonna happen and I intend to have many many more, gotta stay around to annoy my kids LOL, mind you although I will advocate the taking of essiac if diagnosed with cancer I wouldn't advise taking the "man-ufactured" variety and I would say it has a lot more to with state of mind - anyway a couple of articles below.........

God bless Paul Flynn MP, a proper old school labour parliamentarian, strikingly sensible on drugs policy, and now this Early Day Motion on the miracle cure peddlers at Dore, the excellent blog coverage, and the the atrocious media promotion. Very, very good work indeed: this is as excellent as Wednesday lunchtime gets.

and now for some seasonal articles

Celestial Science

—The word solstice's Latin roots mean "sun stands still," an apt description of how the astronomical event appears from Earth.

Since ancient times people have followed the movement of the sun as it rises, crosses the sky, and sets along a path that changes incrementally throughout the year.

For a few days surrounding the solstice, however, our star seems to rise and set at the same locations. It also hovers at the same noontime spot, pausing before its trajectory begins its incremental shift until year's end—the December solstice.

—The "summer solstice" should be called the "June solstice," because it is actually the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. Despite the reversed seasons, the event has long been observed south of the Equator as well.

—Winter and summer occur largely because the planet is tilted on an axis running through the poles at an angle of 23.5 degrees. As the planet orbits the sun, each hemisphere receives varying amounts of light and warmth determined by the direction in which it is tilted: summer when tilted towards the sun and winter when tilted away.

(Read more about Earth's orbit.)

On June 20, 2008, the North Pole will tilt most directly toward the sun, so that the noon sun appears at its highest point in the sky—nearly directly overhead. This is the year's longest day in terms of daylight hours.

(Related story: "In Scandinavia, Solstice Means Fun in the Midnight Sun" [June 21, 2005])

At the same time, in the Southern Hemisphere, the pole is tilted farthest away from the sun, and the June solstice falls in winter, marking the shortest and darkest day of the year.

—The Northern Hemisphere soaks up more sun on the June solstice than on any other day, but the period surrounding the solstice is not as hot as the later months of July and August when daylight hours are actually waning. That's because at solstice time the hemisphere is still warming up after a long winter—just like a summer day is still warming at noon and will be hotter in midafternoon.

In June some ice and snowmelt continues, and ocean waters are still warming, as the hemisphere moves toward the truly hot days later in the summer.

—The sun's movements are especially pronounced in the polar regions.

North of the Arctic Circle the solstice heralds the arrival of 24-hour sunlight. The effect lasts longer the further north one goes—culminating at the pole itself.

At the North Pole the sun rises on the spring equinox—around March 21—and does not set until the fall equinox on or near September 21. As elsewhere, it climbs to its peak at the June solstice.

—The solstice occurs at the same moment all over the planet. But because earth is divided into some two dozen time zones, people experience it at different times of day.

This year's event occurs on June 20 at 11:59 p.m. (23:59) Universal Time Coordinated (Greenwich, England).

—The solstice has not occurred before June 21 since 1896. This year's early arrival—albeit only by a minute—is due to a complex quirk of the leap-year calendar.

How the Ancients Marked the Day

—The solstice is commemorated in stone on Egypt's Giza plateau. The summer solstice sunset, as viewed from the Sphinx, sets precisely between the two Great Pyramids.

Egyptian adepts were attuned to the solstice because it often coincided with the annual Nile River floods that were so critical to agriculture in the river valley.

They learned to predict this annual event by tracking astronomical signs, including the rising of the bright star Sirius.

(See a photograph of a well near Aswān, Egypt.)

—North American Indians celebrated the solstice at sites such as Toltec Mounds Archaeological State Park near Little Rock, Arkansas. There the solstice sun sets directly behind a ceremonial mound constructed some thousand years ago.

—The Nazca Lines, a mysterious series of shallow trench designs dug in the Peruvian desert between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500, include features aligned with both the summer and winter solstice sunsets. This discovery gave rise to the disputed theory that the massive designs, which include the figures of animals, plants, and other beings visible only from the air, were dedicated to astronomical observation.

—The solstice was particularly meaningful for the Inca, who believed that they were descended from the sun god Inti. Their two major religious ceremonies were held during the solstices.

The June solstice was celebrated with a ceremony called Inti Raymi (see photo) in which offerings of food, animals, and perhaps even people were made.

Since the 1940s the holiday has again become a major celebration in Cuzco and is popular with vacationers—though the sacrifices are not what they used to be.

The famed ruins at Machu Picchu also include a semi-circular structure called the "Temple of the Sun" that was constructed around a large boulder. During the June Solstice, the sun shines through a temple window and aligns with both the boulder within and the tip of a nearby mountain peak.

(Related story: "Machu Picchu's Mysteries Continue to Lure Explorers")

The arrangement may have formed an ancient sighting device. It also links the sun, mountains and ancient rock as important aspects of Inca religion.

—Stonehenge has been aligned with the solstice for some 5,000 years. Observers in the center of the famed circle can watch the June solstice sun rise over the Heel Stone, which stands vertical just outside the monument.

Thousands of New Agers, Druids, Wiccans, sun-worshipers, and party people still congregate at the monument each year to mark the solstice.

Cleaning cleaning and more cleaning

I hope all this cleaning I am doing is a manifestation of what is happening on the inner realms LOL - got a call yesterday to go back up to La Era today to finish off, Isabel is away also next week and Frank has business to attend to and doesn't want to have to come back up to the village until the next set of *punters* which in turn is good for me also means I'll get paid - he didn't have enough money with him on Tuesday.........yeah well you get used to the ways of life out here - manana manana

Well I hope you all had a stupendous solstice, we sat on the terrace and meditated before going up to the Buena Vista Plaza to look out on the view as it changes with the setting sun behind the mountain, the village in shade but the sun still shines on many of the villages between us and the coast and of course the beach is still bathed in sunshine, where, according to local news, they were being plagued by jelly fish. We sat and watched the swallows as they swoop and swish getting their supper, there are hundreds of them and parts of the sky can look black with the density of them, their flying skills are just amazing, so we watch until the first stars appear and the birds head back to the roof tops and church where they settle once more, then the bats begin to come out.....

I got all my crochet labelled and bagged and packed yesterday so now just a case of squeezing a few clothes for myself along with a couple of bottles of Rioja, honey cakes and fresh lemons, not much room for clothes :) but Sa says we can have a root thru her cupboards ooooo goody goody and once the crochet is out I will have a very empty bag, so need to fill with something for return journey

I doubt I will get chance to write up my blog while away, but I'll be thinking of ya all

Summer Solstice 2007 - Unique Circumstances With New Beginnings and Good Meetings Coming Quickly

by Robert Wilkinson

The Summer Solstice falls on June 21 at 11:07 am PDT. It's the longest day of the year, and said to be the point at which "free will" acts more powerfully than any other time. It is a point of decision, and kicks off Summer, the season of work, play, productivity, and lots of sunshine for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. If you're "down under," remember to have a little compassion for us up here in the north when December 21, the Winter Solstice, rolls around and we're freezing while you're enjoying the beach! What follows are some hints as to what we all can expect to experience over the next 3 months, regardless of where we live.

The charts for the Summer and Winter Solstices provide guideposts for what will follow in the 90 days afterwards, just as charts for the Vernal and Autumnal Equinox each show what will follow in the season that follows those points in time. This Summer Solstice chart shows a major Grand Fire Trine, which should enliven things and be a brightening influence over the next 13 weeks. Add to this that Mars in the Solstice chart is one of 4 points of a Great Quintile, which activates a larger 5 pointed star pattern in all our charts.

The 4 points all in quintile or biquintile to each other are Moon at 22 Virgo, Mercury retrograde at 11 Cancer, Mars at 28 Aries, and Chiron at 16 Aquarius. This Moon is quintile Mercury and biquintile Mars and Chiron, Mercury is quintile Mars and biquintile Chiron, and Mars is quintile Chiron. These should provide some amazing quick and unique forms of healing, or opportunities for our Higher Self to come forth.

This will profoundly affect and specialize through unique gifts, talents, and circumstances these degree areas of our charts, as well as the areas ruled by the Moon, Mercury, and Mars, thus affecting half our reality. And don't forget the void 5th point that falls at 4 Sagittarius. I believe this could be one of the truly unique periods in history, with gifts galore for anyone tuned to the Grand Fire Trine or the multiple quintiles and biquintiles.

The Moon and Mercury being in mutual reception and quintile shows as a highly specialized unique and gifted focus, since these "rule" everything in the chart as final dispositors of all the other planets except Mars in Aries. Here the Moon in wide square to Pluto is actually favorable, as the Moon releases the power built in the Grand Fire Trine and Pluto releases the power of the Great Quintile. The seeds of unique things will sprout this Summer, and our works and adjustments will show us our inspiration.

The Moon binovile Jupiter and Uranus binovile Pluto offers us all major realizations if we can see how seemingly contradictory spiritual realizations share a common base. The Moon challenges us to rise to unusual or unexpected opportunities, not procrastinate or let vain imaginings distract or worry us, and be decisive in responding to demands on our unique talents. As Moon is in Virgo, be alert and efficient, and as much as possible, find humor to keep your experience simple, direct, and immediate.

The Sun biseptile Uranus will bring forth erratic behavior in many, as well as genius. Venus trine Jupiter should give us all fortunate relations, and with Saturn at 22 Leo, expect your duties and responsibilities to lead you to the message you're here to deliver to your world. Everyone will find themselves "back home" after an adventure in exploration, whether past or present.

The Moon is at 22 Virgo, the Royal Coat of Arms, which will bring many to a form of practical discipleship in their life where they will be upholding venerable standards for others to emulate or learn from. The key question for many will be "Are you ready, willing, and able to assume a 'royal" office, at whatever level it operates?" What values and standards are you willing to embody? This degree is about understanding our "predecessors," and whose footsteps we are following on a path to timeless truth we demonstrate to others.

Jupiter promises that many will be "stirred to a rebirth of love," or a new identity will be revealed showing future possibilities and wider perspectives. Others may confront the karmas of unfinished business, and some may even go through forms of "retribution" from ghosts of the past.

For those areas under the influence of Mercury, the Summer offers the challenge of finding the humor or irony in situations helping us decondition ours or others' assumptions and ego defenses. This is about using humor to find objectivity, or escape from rigid or uptight energies. Venus is on a degree of "putting on the show," so plan your demonstrations carefully and plan the release of energies, even if sometimes the show gets spectacular!

Wonderful Opportunities.......

This is a summary of the guidance I have received concerning the upcoming summer solstice (June 21st). The summer solstice energies always come in like a wave, rising, peaking, and then waning. This year they will begin to be felt on June 16th, they will increase and peak on June 20th, 21st, 22nd and then decrease and subside on June 26th. (Mark your calenders.
So what is coming our way? This summer solstice will be the most powerful, potent, and impacting spiritual influx we have experienced so far. It will carry some of the most demanding energies for change we have had to adjust to, in this life.
The energies feel laser-like: they are very focused, sharp, and penetrating, down to the very core of our being. They will act like a sharp sword that cuts swift and deep. Analogies come to mind such as Archangel Michael's sword which cuts away all delusion. Or, the sword Excalibur in the Arthurian myth, that maintains self-sovereignty (personal freedom) by slicing away repression.

The 2007 summer solstice energies appear to be designed to bust old paradigms. There is a "revolutionary" quality to this energy, where patterns of suppression will no longer be tolerated, whether they are societal or created by our ego-personality. The energies are about "tearing down walls." On an individual level, the energies will help clear our personality based beliefs that keep usboxed-in and closed-down. I also sense the solstice influx as much more than energy. It is a field of higher consciousness embodying the qualities of will, love and wisdom.. To quote "The Chronicles of Narndia", "There is deep magic here."
Being an expression of Spirit, the solstice wave embodies awareness. It has intelligence, direction, and purpose. With great force and clarity, this field of consciousness will "know" where to penetrate and clear delusion. Patterns of separation that exist on the collective, societal and individual level which promote limitation, power over others, and victimhood will be targeted by the solstice energy influx... It will be a time of greater alignment with Spirit and of the purification of the ego.
How will the solstice energy effect us personally? If you hold onto a belief of being powerless (or on-the-other-hand, believe you have the right to dominate others), and you define "who you are" by this story, then this could be a turbulent time for you. You will perceive your personality under attack. This could result in an unconscious clinging to old beliefs, which in turn, will result in constriction and physical pain.
We tend to carry trauma in our tissues, anchored into toxins held in the cells. I feel the summer solstice energies are powerful enough to reach down into the tissue and DNA and clear these patterns of separation. As the emotional patterns are cleared, the chemical toxins will also be released. So both emotional and chemical detoxification can be expected.
I believe many of us will easily surf the solstice wave. Probably the worst that will happen is that we will find ourselves tired and taking a lot of naps. You may even experience long periods of joy and tranquility, for as the fear and conflict are cleared, peace remains. However, if you are emotionally uncomfortable or you are experiencing physical pain, here are some action steps. Nothing in this list is mandatory. As always, in all ways, follow your inner guidance.
- If headaches arise you are not grounding these intense energies through your body very well. Take the time to sit on the Earth or lean against a tree.
-Epsom salt baths are an effective way of detoxing. Chemical toxins are pulled out of the pores through osmotic pressure, thereby, helping to release the emotional charge anchored to them. Add 1 part Epsom salt, 1 part table salt, and 1 part baking soda to the warmest bath water that you can handle. If inclined, you can add essential oils, such as rosemary, to enhance the clearing process. Drink lots of water as you soak.
-If anger is surfacing, consider a liver cleanse to flush toxins out of the liver.Google "liver cleanse" or "liver flush" for references and directions.
-Before you take a nap or go to sleep, ask your spiritual support team (your spiritual guides, Masters, angels, etc.) to assist you in your healing process.
-Drink more water than usual throughout the day. You can add flower essences like "Rescue Remedy" or herbal tinctures like red clover (which opens heart chakra) or burdock (which clears anger from the liver) to your water bottle. This will help smooth out the emotional bumps.
-When you are experiencing troubling emotions, it is important not to repress or deny them. Allow yourself to fully feel them, honor them as your own creation, then choose to let them go. Ask assistance from your spiritual support team for their release. Imagine yourself as an empty tube. As you breathe, visualize directing the breath through you and the letting the negative emotions flow out.You can also set the intention that as you walk, that the old emotions flow down your legs and out of your feet with each step you take.
-If you are experiencing physical pain, ask your inner awareness, "What issue of conflict am I holding onto?" Chances are good that it's some form of judgment; such as a judgment of yourself, a judgment against another, or a judgment about your existing circumstances. Judgment binds the negative emotions in your body and if held long enough creates physical pain or disease. The solution was given 2,000 yeas ago: forgiveness. Forgiveness is the release of the judgment, allowing the old negative emotions (poisons) to pass out of your system. You may feel we have every ethical right to hold onto to the judgment, but the pain you are feeling issaying otherwise.
Of all the action steps in this list, the act of forgiveness holds the greatest power to heal your wounds for it releases you from self-bondage. So, forgive. Forgive yourself for choices made out of ignorance. Forgive yourself for lost opportunities. Forgive others who you feel have harmed you (remember, you invited them into your life drama to heal aspects of yourself). Forgive the personal lifem circumstances that disturb you (the truth is you created them). Forgive your parents. Forgive your "X"...If you do, the summer solstice energy will strongly support your release of the pain.
The power of the summer solstice influx (pure white-gold light) will allow it to penetrate our cells and our emotional and mental bodies. It will sweep through our body on all levels and clear the lower frequencies of discord. It is a time of purging that which is no longer longer needed. And, if this clearing process is welcomed with gratitude, e.g. "Thank you for this chance to release and heal!", it will be a much smoother ride.
The amplitude of the solstice wave will diminish after June 26th., however, its energy will remain with us, percolating through our being. A low-level clearing will continue long after the solstice has passed. You may discover the action steps still have application months from now. Suggestion: Choose to "let go" of any fears you may have around this, for it is fear that restricts your freedom to grow.
Summary: I view the 2007 summer solstice as a high and holy initiation for every life form on the planet. The energy is non-discriminatory in terms of who receives it, it is available to all. It is the breath of Spirit upon the land. It will assist you in the release of your most painful wounds, if you allow it..
The solstice influx carries mighty currents of change. In our darkest hours we have prayed for change and our prayers are being answered. The solstice energies can help you clear your issues of disconnection, lack, powerlessness, and bondage. Choose to use the solstice energies to heal blocks in your body. Choose to release your concerns. Ask and you shall receive.
The solstice wave is also an auspicious time to energize you heart's desires. Visualize and feel your goals and intentions as fully manifested. Feel the joy of harmonious relationships, abundance, health, and the completion of chosen projects. As you do so, any unconscious resistance will surface and can be dissolved by the energy. There could not be a better time for you to visualize the new life you choose to experience.
I would suggest you embrace the solstice wave. Become one with the wave. Let it flow through you. Surrender to it. That choice will increase its presence with you and its ability to assist you.

A Personal Note: I was "pressured" by my guidance to make this channeling available. The Spiritual Forces, working with the solstice energies, sincerely want this information to reach as many people as possible. Feel free, therefore, to pass this report onto any friend, relative, or colleague in your network you believe will benefit from this information. May it reach those it can serve. - S

Del got a call from Sammy last night, she went through a tougher time than we had realised and only got out of hospital on Monday, but all does seem to be OK now, poor girl.....

What We See
Judging Others

Though it is human to evaluate people we encounter based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are seldom unaffected by our own fears and our own preconceptions. Additionally, our judgments are frequently incomplete. For example, wealth can seem like proof that an individual is spoiled, and poverty can be seen as a signifier of laziness—neither of which may be true. At the heart of the tendency to categorize and criticize, we often find insecurity. Overcoming our need to set ourselves apart from what we fear is a matter of understanding the root of judgment and then reaffirming our commitment to tolerance.

When we catch ourselves thinking or behaving judgmentally, we should ask ourselves where these judgments come from. Traits we hope we do not possess can instigate our criticism when we see them in others because passing judgment distances us from those traits. Once we regain our center, we can reinforce our open-mindedness by putting our feelings into words. To acknowledge to ourselves that we have judged, and that we have identified the root of our judgments, is the first step to a path of compassion. Recognizing that we limit our awareness by assessing others critically can make moving past our initial impressions much easier. Judgments seldom leave room for alternate possibilities.

Mother Teresa said, “If you judge people, you don’t have time to love them.” If we are quick to pass judgment on others, we forget that they, like us, are human beings. As we seldom know what roads people have traveled before a shared encounter or why they have come into our lives, we should always give those we meet the gift of an open heart. Doing so allows us to replace fear-based criticism with appreciation because we can then focus wholeheartedly on the spark of good that burns in all human souls.
