I'm an ordinary man, nothin' special nothin' grand,
I've had to work for everything I own,
Well I never asked for a lot, I was happy with what I got,
Enough to keep my family and my home,
Now they say that times are hard & they've handed me my cards,
They say there's not the work to go around,
When the whistle blows the gates will finally close,
Tonight they're going to shut this factory down,
Then they'll tear it down.
I never missed a day nor went on strike for better pay,
For 20 years I served them best I could,
With a handshake and a cheque it seems so easy to forget,
Loyalty through the bad times and the good,
The owner says he's sad to see that things have got so bad,
But the Captains of industry won't let him loose,
He still drives a car and smokes a cigar,
And still he takes his family on a cruise,
He'll never lose.
Now it seems to me to be such a cruel irony,
He's richer now ever he was before,
Now my cheque is all spent and I can't afford the rent,
There's one law for the rich, one for the poor,
Every day I've tried to salvage some of my pride,
To find some work so's I might pay my way,
But everywhere I go, the answer is always no,
There's no work for anyone here today,
No work today.
And so condemned I stand, just an ordinary man,
Like thousands beside me in the queue,
I watch my darlin' wife tryin' to make the best of life,
God knows what the kids are goin' to do,
Now that we are faced with this human waste,
A generation cast aside,
For as long as I live, I never will forgive,
You've stripped me of my dignity & pride,
Putting a price on people's labour is nigh on impossible in reality.......and like many other's believe that those who make these rules up should live by them!!!!!
Also watched a recent docu about David Icke - funny to see how the people who laughed at him many years ago are now more inclined to believe a lot of what he is saying - OK the reptilian bits are a bit far fetched but as I read somewhere the other day - is it any more ridiculous that the bible stories and plenty of people believe that..........but many of his prophecies have been proved true and I for one do believe that we are being manipulated through propaganda - notice how the food shortages are bringing forth the GM crowd - with the lure of cheaper and plentiful food supplies - uh oh -- I hear the echoes of something familiar - when intensive farming was being ""sold" to the people it held the message "we will be able to feed everyone" well I am still waiting - You & Yours on Radio4 yesterday dedicated their whole programme to this debate
Although I didn't particularly enjoy The Last King of Scotland there was one good line in it, where the Dr. looked up at Amin and said that he was like a child and that is what made him so scary and I realise that what I call the "unthinking masses" are really children that obediently do as they are told and naively believe the so called "ex-spurts" - they are not given the time, opportunity or inclination to think - too busy worrying and trying to live up to that mass media garbage. Hah a flash of inspiration why don't we en masse appeal to the egos of these business men, how do they want to be remembered, and you can betcha bottom dollar that most of them would love to be in the annals of history, but as a Mr. Nasty or a Mr. Nice?? And I am not talking a handful of loose change here {like a certain Mr.B G} - it's all relative :) and personally I don't think B.G. has given back very much thus far compared to what he has............or why not try this experiment and get the T-shirt sold for £3 or £5 and have it made in the UK or Eire along with the hand sewn beading and see how much it would be, this is a D idea :)
July marks the true entry into Summer, where a maximum Solar force assists us to do our Being with all the power and determination we can gather. We now face a month of fundamental reorientations to be consolidated as a feeling-experience we will release as new creative impulses when the Sun enters Leo.
July expands the externalizing self-gathering that Summer symbolizes. It is a time of decisions and events that will wreck everything that blocks the new way of life we've embraced up to now. It is time to accept new ways of experiencing life, new needs and habits, and willingly turn the corner, renouncing old ways of feeling.
This period indicates decisive changes in our basic life allegiances that show us our basic needs and self-preservation instincts, and therefore our true foundations. Find an inner discipline that will help you organize to exploit your potential, and if there is a sense of ineptitude, get a sense of structure. Beware of defensiveness, or touchiness, or a sense of being lost in life. Do what you can, but don't adopt the habits of people who don't know where they're going or why they're going there. Irrationality
I recall reading somewhere that Keynes criticized Russell for saying that the problem with the world is that people are irrational and that the solution is that they should become rational. It seems a fair comment on Russell--but why is it a criticism? Because Russell's observation is a datum not an explanation: we want to know why people are irrational and how to improve their rationality. It's obvious what the problem is and also what the solution would be--but we need to know what causes irrationality and what we can do to fix it. Freud had a kind of theory of this but nowadays it looks pretty wacky. There seems to be a big theoretical gap here, urgently needing to be filled. (Of course, we won't recognize it if we start doubting that rationality is a robust matter.) I don't have a theory myself--human irrationality can seem the oddest and least adaptive trait of the species--but I do think we need to work on it. Why do people go around believing silly things and acting idiotically?
