Big Bang Day

MMMMM forgot to publish Monday and now it is Big Bang Day well woke up to some big bangs - first autumn storm and a good ground soaking down pour - enough to fill a small pot holder!!

Quick check of email before switching back off as the storm was getting closer, revealed an email from Ryanair ----- my flights are cancelled due to a strike with the plane makers - kinda bizarre as yesterday after watching a strange Beeb programme about the various ways - according to scientists - that the world could end LOL happy stuff and did kinda make us laugh, anyway because it featured some poor dude trying to fly home at the beginning of each happy scenario - I filppantly said ah well if my flight is messed about I won't complain Del's response was that i would know it would be for a "good reason" even if I didn't understand at the time.......so not sure when to replan at the mo - Ryan air have promised to refund within 7 days and flights are supposed to commence in November... see what transpires.....

Text from Lau last night - she is having good time and off on a survival trip today which includes a camel ride - oh do hope there are some pics of this and later this week a glass bottomed boat trip

Monday

Had great chat with Lau yesterday - my fledgling is now flying high and free and learning lessons all the time, now all I can/should do is observe as she wrestles with the many dreams and desires that present themselves, her focus is very much work still and finding that things aren't always what they seem - ahhhh yes that ole cookie - but she is becoming stronger and wiser with each experience and that is all any of us can hope for.

It takes many of us a long time to learn to Resist the Tug

Euro Weekly has finally got an article about the quarry and we now have a petition and a fund [not that I can help out with the pennies - soz folks - the myth of all guiris being wealthy is just THAT a MYTH!!] Our car is now village bound as the insurance ran out at the beginning of the month and as it takes over a quarter of our monthly income to re-insure it will have to wait a while - this month "council tax" has to be paid and that takes a fair bite out of us although by no means as horrific as Scottish council taxes well Dumfries anyway, but it does mean a canny month LOL, no I am not complaining just stating it how it is - but changes are a happening.........starting with a "state of mind"..........the best foundations are built with careful consideration..........

On Solitude

We’ll muse on solitude
today with scattered thoughts. By solitude we mean the state of living
alone and a bit secluded from society. We prefer the Latin term to
loneliness because it sounds less negative and more neutral to us.

Can solitude be a positive choice? In a world where singles are
growing, it doesn’t seem such an absurd question. Well, one
should first know if the majority of those who live without a partner
(which doesn’t imply seclusion from society, of course) are
willing singles or not.

I realise that this year I have been far more interested in politics especially the USA [a mix of age, time to read from the differing sides, and I think the fact that what the USA does really does have an impact on everyone else, more's the pity]. I confess I am astounded at Palin as a person and as a female, I cannot comprehend the fact that many other women think she is the bee's knees - ohhhhhh - pleeeeeease.........

Palin has even offered a $150 bounty for every wolf killed in
Alaska. Kill every one of the 9,000 or so wolves in Alaska, and the
taxpayers will reap a harvest of about $1.3 million. And, don’t
worry about wolves being extinct in Alaska. There’s still another
5,000 or so in the Lower 48, most of which are protected by the
Endangered Species Act.

Wolves are highly intelligent social animals, who are loyal to
their mates, care for their children, and protective of all in their
pack. Humans should emulate them rather than murder them.[allspinzone]
