Day Trip.....

Have now recovered from our trip up to the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas on Friday when we took Dorian, Amanda's son, to finalize the buying of a property; it was my first trip up this way and it is certainly different - from the Province de Malaga to Province Granada, the only real bug bear up here is the intensive growing and sadly they use far too many chemicals, never buy fruit and veg in supermarkets in Spain as it all comes from this area as does much of the stuff sold back in UK supermarkets, bt leaving that aside it is a stunningly beautiful spot; north of Motril there main town is Albunol and the little village is Albondon, the Al means they Moorish in origin. Dorian has bought a place which is part of a Cortijo, a small group pf houses, his is part cave and full of treasures and character, the views are stunning in one direction you have the snow on the Sierra Nevavda and in tother you have the sea, a lot of ear popping on the steep drive4 up from the coast; one neighbour who once worked for IBM and lived in the US for a while spoke good English, he invited us in to sample his home made natural wine, very goo and very potent!!!!! Then another neighbour asked us to join them, more home made wine and much food , so having arrived at 1.30 to have a look at the place and then planning to go for something to eat in the village, we finally left at around 7, I slept all the way home LOL and yesterday I have to admit to not feeling my best, hey ho
Today the political parties of Casarabonela are laying on free food in the Plaza Buena Vista, not being one to turn down free food we shall no doubt wander up and see what is going on
